Quick answer: Three crypto treasury companies reported new buys on Oct. 19, 2026: Strategy added 267 BTC for $22.1 million, Strive added 1,223 BTC for about $100 million, and Bitmine added 12,535 ETH. Strategy also spent $193.1 million buying back its STRC preferred stock, nearly nine times its bitcoin outlay.

Three of the biggest crypto treasury companies reported fresh purchases on Monday, Oct. 19, 2026. Yet the numbers show a split: Strategy put far more cash into its own preferred stock than into bitcoin, while smaller rival Strive kept buying hard.

The market backdrop was calm. Bitcoin traded at $82,255 and ether at $2,408.75 on Oct. 19 at 13:51 UTC, per CoinGecko, up about 1% and 0.6% in 24 hours.

Bar chart of crypto treasury companies' disclosed weekly spending to Oct. 18, 2026: Strategy STRC buyback $193.1 million, Strive bitcoin $100 million, Bitmine ether about $29.6 million, Strategy bitcoin $22.1 million

What did crypto treasury companies buy this week?

Strategy bought 267 BTC for $22.1 million between Oct. 12 and Oct. 18, at an average of $82,900 per coin. That lifts its stack to 848,517 BTC, according to an SEC filing cited by Cointelegraph. It funded the buy by selling 140,872 MSTR shares.

In the same week, Strategy repurchased 1.94 million shares of its Stretch (STRC) preferred stock for $193.1 million. It also raised its digital credit buyback limit from $2 billion to $3 billion, crypto.news reported from Michael Saylor’s announcement.

Strive added 1,223 BTC between Oct. 14 and Oct. 16 at an average of $81,734. That is about $100 million, and it brings holdings to 36,818 BTC, per an 8-K filing reported by The Block.

Bitmine, meanwhile, added 12,535 ETH in the week to Oct. 18. Its treasury now holds 6,041,481 ETH, or 4.9% of the 122.1 million supply, according to the company’s weekly release.

Why Strategy’s STRC buyback matters more than its bitcoin buy

Strategy is still the largest corporate bitcoin holder. However, its bitcoin buying has become small next to its other spending. The $193.1 million STRC buyback was almost nine times the $22.1 million it put into BTC.

The gap is wider across the quarter. Strategy has spent $459.2 million on STRC buybacks since Oct. 1, against $72.3 million for 851 BTC, per Cointelegraph.

Why buy back preferred stock at all? STRC has a $100 stated value and pays a variable dividend. When it trades below $100, buying shares back can cut future dividend costs. STRC traded near $98.45 before Monday’s open, so the logic holds for now.

Still, this is a shift in how the market should read Strategy’s Monday posts. A small BTC number no longer means less firepower. It means the cash is going to its capital structure first. We flagged the earlier pattern in our report on Strategy’s 250 BTC purchase. Index risk is part of the story too, as our piece on MSCI’s rules for Strategy explains.

Strive and Bitmine: two treasuries, two speeds

Strive is now the most aggressive buyer of the group. It bought 4,045 BTC last week in two batches, about 15 times Strategy’s 267 BTC. At CoinGecko’s price, its 36,818 BTC are worth about $3.03 billion.

The Block ranks Strive fourth among public companies, behind Strategy, Metaplanet with 44,000 BTC and Twenty One with 43,514 BTC. CEO Matt Cole wants to finish the year in second place. On our math, Strive needs 7,182 more BTC to pass Metaplanet. That is about 700 BTC a week through December, close to The Block’s estimate.

Funding is lined up. Strive had $317.5 million in cash on Oct. 16. In addition, a sale of 7 million SATS preferred shares, priced to raise about $630 million, is due to settle on Oct. 20.

Bitmine moves at a steady pace instead. It bought 12,532 ETH the week before and 12,535 ETH this week. Chairman Tom Lee has called 5% of supply a hard cap, as covered in our story on Bitmine’s 5% ETH cap.

That cap is now close. Five percent of 122.1 million ETH is about 6.105 million tokens. So Bitmine has room for roughly 63,500 more ETH, worth about $153 million at CoinGecko’s price. At 12,500 ETH a week, that is about five more weeks of buying.

Crypto treasury companies by the numbers

Company Bought (week to Oct. 18) Total holdings Note
Strategy 267 BTC ($22.1M) 848,517 BTC $193.1M STRC buyback
Strive 1,223 BTC (~$100M) 36,818 BTC $630M SATS sale settles Oct. 20
Bitmine 12,535 ETH 6,041,481 ETH 84% of ETH staked

Bitmine did not give a cost for its latest ETH. Our $29.6 million chart figure uses its $2,365 reference price, so treat it as an estimate.

What to watch next

First, watch whether Strategy keeps shifting cash to STRC. If the stock climbs back to $100, buybacks lose their point, and more cash could flow to bitcoin again.

Second, watch Strive’s SATS settlement on Oct. 20. If the $630 million lands, a large bitcoin buy could follow in next week’s filing.

Third, watch Bitmine’s pace near the 5% line. Once it stops buying, ether loses one of its steadiest weekly bids. That matters because spot Ether ETFs are also losing money, as our report on $955 million of October Ether ETF outflows shows.

Finally, watch bitcoin’s monthly close. Our look at Bitcoin’s October returns sets out the $83,555 level that decides whether the month ends green.
