Quick answer: The 37th quarterly BNB burn destroyed 1,646,196.44 BNB, worth about $1.197 billion, on Oct. 19, 2026, per the BNB Chain blog. Total supply fell to 131,512,085 BNB, and about 31.5 million more must be burned before the 100 million target is reached.
The 37th BNB burn is done. The BNB Foundation sent 1,646,196.44 BNB, worth about $1.197 billion, to a dead address on BNB Smart Chain on Monday, Oct. 19, 2026, according to the chain’s official blog. The team confirmed it on X at 10:10 UTC, and the transaction is public on BscScan.
It is the largest quarterly burn of 2026 by token count. Even so, the price barely moved, and that gap tells you a lot about how burns really work.

How much BNB was burned in the 37th burn?
This quarter’s event removed 1,646,196.44 tokens. That is about 1.9% more than the 36th round on July 15, 2026, which destroyed 1,615,827.795 tokens worth about $932 million, per the 36th burn post. Meanwhile, the dollar value jumped more, because the coin traded higher this time.
Afterward, total supply stood at 131,512,085 BNB at 10:05 UTC. In other words, about 68.5 million BNB, or 34.2% of the original 200 million, has now been destroyed.
In total, the four quarterly events of 2026 so far removed about 6.2 million tokens. At the prices reported at each burn, that adds up to roughly $4.4 billion.
How does the BNB auto-burn work?
The coin uses an Auto-Burn formula. Each quarter, the amount depends on two inputs: the average BNB price and the number of blocks produced on BNB Smart Chain. As a result, a lower average price means the formula destroys more tokens, which keeps the system predictable and auditable.
This process will keep running until total supply reaches 100 million. In addition, BSC now produces blocks faster after the Lorentz and Maxwell upgrades, so the team adjusted the formula’s parameters “to keep the idea and spirit consistent.”
There is also a second, separate mechanism. Under BEP-95, the network destroys part of the gas fees in every BSC block in real time. That likely explains why supply fell about 7,846 tokens more than the quarterly event alone would suggest, based on the 133,166,127.91 figure in the July post.
Does the BNB burn push the price up?
Not by itself. BNB traded at $724.63 at 10:58 UTC on Oct. 19, up about 0.3% in 24 hours, per CoinGecko. Its market value was about $95.3 billion.
The reason is simple. A burn shrinks supply by about 1.2% per quarter, but no one buys the coin to do it. Also, everyone knows the schedule months ahead. Traders even model it: analysts at MEFAI estimated about 1.6 million BNB before the event, per a KuCoin news summary. Therefore, the market had largely priced it in.
Over years, a falling supply can support the price if demand holds. Demand comes from fees on BNB Chain, Binance products and holders who stake or keep BNB. For context on that demand side, see how Binance bStocks hit $1 billion in assets and why Binance Pool is shutting down.
What happens next for BNB supply?
About 31.5 million tokens still have to go. At this quarter’s pace, that would take around 19 more burns, close to five years. However, the formula changes the amount each quarter with price and block count, so that timeline will shift.
The next quarterly burn is due in January 2027. You can follow coin prices on our crypto price pages and broader moves on the altcoins hub.
