Quick answer: YouTube removed The Bitcoin Conference channel on Oct. 20, 2026, citing its harmful and dangerous policy, and rejected the appeal, per a notice the conference posted on X at 19:44 UTC. At 22:00 UTC TeamYouTube replied that it was sending a DM about next steps. As of Oct. 21, 00:05 UTC, the channel was still offline.
The world’s biggest Bitcoin event just lost its video library. On Oct. 20, 2026, YouTube removed the Bitcoin Conference YouTube channel and told organizers it would not come back, even though the channel mostly posts keynotes and panels.
The decision came hours after YouTube banned and then restored Simply Bitcoin. As a result, the case has become a test of how YouTube treats crypto education.
What happened to the Bitcoin Conference YouTube channel?
At 19:44 UTC on Oct. 20, The Bitcoin Conference posted on X: “YouTube has banned The Bitcoin Conference channel. All our channel does is post keynotes and panels from the largest Bitcoin conference in the world.” The post drew about 38,800 views and 577 likes within a few hours.
The screenshot attached to the post shows YouTube’s reply to an appeal. “We reviewed your channel carefully, and have confirmed that it violates our harmful and dangerous policy,” the notice reads. It adds: “We won’t be putting your channel back up on YouTube.”
However, the story did not end there. Later, at 22:00 UTC, the official TeamYouTube account replied to the conference: “We’re sending you a DM now for the next steps.” Even so, the channel page still returned an error when we checked at about 00:05 UTC on Oct. 21.

Why did YouTube ban Bitcoin channels on Oct. 20?
So far, YouTube has not named a specific video. Its harmful or dangerous content policy mainly targets content that encourages serious physical harm, illegal acts and hacking. The only crypto item it names is “cryptophishing,” meaning requests for wallet details as part of a scam.
In other words, nothing in that policy treats Bitcoin education as harmful. Still, the removals follow a pattern. Simply Bitcoin said at 17:49 UTC that it was banned, noting it is “a team of 15 that depends on YouTube for our livelihoods.” It later said this was the second time YouTube had banned the channel. By 18:56 UTC, it thanked YouTube for reinstating the channel.
Meanwhile, Bitcoin.com News said YouTube banned its channel during a livestream, restored it, and then removed it again, The Crypto Times reported. Many creators think automated moderation confuses real education with the scam streams that copy it.
Is crypto content banned on YouTube?
No. Crypto news, analysis and tutorials are allowed. In practice, the risk is a mistaken strike or termination, so appeals and public pressure matter a lot.
What can crypto creators do after a YouTube ban?
First, appeal through YouTube Studio or the channel termination page. Next, tag @TeamYouTube on X with the channel name and notice. Notably, both channels got replies only after their posts went viral.
Finally, reduce platform risk. Keep backups of every video, collect audience emails, and mirror uploads to X, other video sites or Nostr apps. For viewers, the conference’s X account still shares clips.
What does this mean for the crypto industry?
For now, the market barely noticed. Bitcoin traded near $82,960 at 00:01 UTC on Oct. 21, up about 1.3% in 24 hours, per CoinGecko. You can follow it on our live Bitcoin price page.
The bigger issue is reach. JPMorgan now forecasts strong Bitcoin returns, and regulators approve products like the first Swiss Bitcoin ETF. Yet the largest video platform keeps removing channels that explain Bitcoin to newcomers. If YouTube restores the conference channel, these bans will look like fixable errors. Otherwise, more crypto media will likely move audiences elsewhere.
