Quick answer: Next Technology Holding (NASDAQ: NXTT) said on Oct. 30, 2026, that its board approved selling or pledging all of its roughly 5,833 bitcoin, worth about $450 million, citing the Binance hack and quantum computing risk. No sale has happened yet, per the company’s GlobeNewswire release.

A small Nasdaq company that holds a big pile of bitcoin says it may let go of all of it. The Next Technology bitcoin decision is the first public treasury retreat tied directly to the Binance hack, and it lands as BTC trades near a 30-day low.

What did Next Technology announce?

On Oct. 30, 2026, Next Technology Holding Inc. (NASDAQ: NXTT) said its board had unanimously approved the sale or pledging of its bitcoin “in one or more tranches.” The company held about 5,833 BTC as of that date, according to its press release on GlobeNewswire, issued at 19:20 ET (23:20 UTC) after U.S. markets closed.

The board allowed three routes: direct sales on crypto exchanges, block trades with specific buyers, and bitcoin-backed loans. Chief Executive Weihong Liu will decide the timing, price, volume and tranche schedule. The company stressed there is “no assurance” any sale or pledge will happen.

Why does Next Technology want to sell its bitcoin?

The board said it acted after reviewing the security incident reported by Binance. It also pointed to hacker attacks, exchange weaknesses and “the potential cryptographic impact of quantum computing” as reasons the custody risk had grown. The company said none of its bitcoin is held on or through Binance.

That framing matters. The record Binance theft, which the FBI ties to North Korea’s TraderTraitor group, has already pushed users to rethink where they keep coins. We covered the Binance withdrawals restart and how EIP-7702 sped up the drain. Quantum risk is a longer-term debate, explored in our piece on the Quantum Alliance and exposed bitcoin.

How big is the NXTT bitcoin stash?

Huge, compared with the company. NXTT closed at $5.30 on Oct. 30, which puts its roughly 1.47 million shares at about $7.8 million, CoinDesk calculated. At about $77,580 per BTC on Nov. 1, 2026, per CoinGecko, 5,833 BTC is worth roughly $452 million. That is more than 50 times the market value.

Most of the coins came from one deal. In March 2025, the company acquired 5,000 BTC for shares, warrants and an earlier cash prepayment, recording $158.1 million in total consideration, or about $31,600 per coin, CoinDesk reported.

Bar chart comparing Next Technology's roughly $7.8 million market value, the $158.1 million it paid for 5,000 BTC in March 2025, and about $452.5 million for its 5,833 BTC on Nov. 1, 2026

Can investors verify the holdings?

Not easily. The company’s annual report says “substantially all” of its bitcoin sits with Japan-based institutional custodians, but it does not name them. CoinDesk said the filings it reviewed give no wallet addresses that would let investors check the balance on-chain, and it asked the company for a custodian attestation.

That gap may explain the huge discount. A stock trading at a fraction of its stated bitcoin suggests the market doubts it will ever see that value.

Will a Next Technology bitcoin sale hit the BTC price?

Probably not much on its own. 24/7 Wall St. estimated the stack equals about 0.7% of one day’s bitcoin trading volume. Spread over tranches or used as loan collateral, it could pass through the market quietly.

The bigger signal is sentiment. Bitcoin ended October lower, as we noted in our look at its worst October since 2014, and spot ETFs saw heavy outflows. A listed holder publicly weighing an exit adds to that mood, even if the coins never move. Track the live price on our Bitcoin price page.
