Quick answer: The Aviva XRP Ledger launch, announced with Ripple on Oct. 26, 2026, adds a tokenized share class to Aviva Investors’ £22 billion ($29.4 billion) Sterling Liquidity Fund. Aviva seeded the class with £50 million. Across its two tokenized funds it now holds about £86 million on-chain, far less than the headline £22 billion.
The Aviva XRP Ledger launch is real, but the £22 billion headline needs context. Aviva Investors has added a tokenized share class to its largest fund, and so far about £50 million sits in it.
That makes this a test of the plumbing, not a flood of new money onto XRP. Still, it is one of the largest European fund managers to use a public chain for a core cash product.
What happened: Aviva tokenizes its sterling cash fund
On Monday, Oct. 26, 2026, Aviva Investors and Ripple said in a joint announcement that the Sterling (GBP) Liquidity Fund now has a tokenized share class on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). Aviva Investors is the asset management arm of the UK insurer Aviva.
In total, the fund manages around £22 billion, or about $29.4 billion, Cointelegraph reported. It is Aviva Investors’ largest fund. On top of that, Aviva put £50 million of its own money into the new class, according to crypto.news.
This is the second Aviva XRP Ledger product. Before this, the firm first added a tokenized class to its US Dollar Liquidity Fund on July 29. That launch was the first result of a partnership with Ripple signed in February. Together, the two classes now hold more than £86 million, or about $116 million.
Several firms also sit behind the product. For example, Komainu, an institutional crypto custodian, and Licuido, a tokenization platform Ripple has invested in, support the new class. Meanwhile, BNY Mellon remains custodian of the fund’s actual assets.
Why the Aviva XRP Ledger launch matters
First, the asset is boring on purpose. This is a money market fund that holds short-term sterling debt and aims to protect capital. Firms typically use funds like this to park cash. So if tokenization works here, it can work for the daily cash moves that big investors make.
Second, the scale is easy to misread. £50 million is about 0.2% of the fund. Even the full £86 million across both tokenized classes is under 0.4% of the sterling fund alone. In other words, the fund did not move to XRPL. Instead, one new door into it opened there.
Third, access is narrow. The shares are a “digital twin” of the fund, and only eligible investors with approved digital wallets can hold them. A crypto.news analysis found no retail sign-up page and no listing on the XRPL’s open order book. As a result, anyone can see the tokens on a public ledger, but most people cannot buy them.
For its part, Aviva’s pitch is about speed and cost. “We believe tokenised funds can increase efficiency and ultimately lead to improved client outcomes,” Aviva Investors CEO Mark Versey said. Ripple’s Nigel Khakoo added that “settlement is moving to real-time, always-on rails.”
Data and context: XRP and the tokenized fund race
The XRP Ledger is the ninth-largest chain for tokenized real-world assets. It holds about $642 million in distributed RWA value across roughly 2,900 holders, Cointelegraph reported, citing RWA.xyz. For scale, Aviva’s two tokenized classes alone are worth about $116 million. However, the reports do not say whether RWA.xyz already counts them.
At the same time, competition is heating up. Just last week, JPMorgan Asset Management brought two money market funds to Solana, as we covered in our JPMorgan tokenized fund report. Franklin Templeton has also used the XRPL, including the $150 million sgBENJI product.
By contrast, the token itself has not benefited so far. XRP traded at $1.28 on CoinGecko at 14:00 UTC on Oct. 26, down 1.1% in 24 hours. Over 30 days it has fallen about 16%, from roughly $1.53.

That gap is worth noting, because the two are not linked directly. A fund token on XRPL pays small network fees in XRP, but it does not hold XRP. Therefore, fund launches and the XRP price can move apart for a long time.
What to watch next
Watch Ripple’s Swell conference in New York, which runs Oct. 27 to 29. Ripple often uses the event for partner news, and our Swell 2026 preview lists what to expect.
Next, track the real numbers. The best signs of success are outside money in the sterling class, the number of holders and how often the shares change hands. So far, neither firm has shared outside subscriber figures.
Finally, watch the wider pushback on tokenized assets. Some public companies have objected to plans for tokenized stocks. Money market funds, on the other hand, face less of that fight, which is one reason they lead the trend.
